The PADI program is highly regarded and has been recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) as the equivalent of a university credit. PADI is the only diving instruction institution that has this honor.
As of 2020, PADI has certified over 28 million divers worldwide (Japan has also surpassed 2 million certifications). Each year, the number of C-cards (certificates) issued worldwide is approximately 60% or more of all divers. This shows that PADI has earned a high level of trust from people all over the world as a diving education institution.
